John Snook is the Chief Executive and Acting Campus Manager at NZIBT. At NZIBT we value every individual for the contribution they make to the life of the Institute and offer every effort to assist them in reaching their educational goals. We take great pride in the achievement of our students and constantly strive to improve our services so that each person can achieve their potential.
The Local Advisory Committee (LAC) plays a vital role in providing NZIBT governance, management, staff and students with industry focused advice and guidance including ensuring that the programmes offered by NZIBT meet industry standards and needs.
John has over twenty years of experience working in the tertiary education sector from lecturer through to management and governance roles and brings a wealth of experience in this field including connections with Education New Zealand, NZ Qualifications Authority, Immigration New Zealand, Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Christchurch Educated.
John has a Masters of Business Administration (Distinction), Massey University, Palmerston North and a Bachelor of Physical Education (Honours), Otago University, Dunedin.
Sharon Cooke is the General Manager Training, Airways International Limited and is responsible for Airways’ global training business, including campuses in Christchurch and Palmerston North in New Zealand and Dubai, Beijing and San Juan.
Sharon’s key focus is to ensure successful training outcomes for customers; to implement the Airways Knowledge Online (AKO) e-learning strategy; and develop the capabilities and expertise of the Training team in order to grow the business through innovative products and services.
Sharon is a Fellow, and professional member, of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and an experienced senior aviation manager with a strong background in higher education and training.
Sharon has a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, a Bachelor of Commerce (B Com), University of Canterbury and Charterted Accountant (FCA), Fellow of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a professional member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors .
Garry Urlwin is the Business Director for Harvey Cameron and has 35 years experience in the marketing and advertising industry including; Managing Director of the Christchurch office of global ad agency FCB, Managing Partner of Christchurch ad agencies Urlwin McDonald & Clients and Simpatico Advertising, Director Zoom Group Interactive.
Garrys’ current role includes consumer research, strategic planning, account direction, business development and his approach is to work from the consumer back. Research - don’t assume. Creative communications deliver better results.
Garry has a BA (Psychology) University of Canterbury and his strengths include consumer journey research, brand positioning, brand essence framework and strategic marketing communications.
Garry aims to inspire with insight and ideas.
Ross has over 30 years’ experience in industry and academia. Having worked right across the hierarchy including in a senior position as Head Office Accountant for a Fortune 500 company, Ross has the ability to bring real work experience into the classroom. Ross also brings into the classroom a truly international perspective having lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Russian republics, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.
Ross has an ACMA (Glasgow), MBA (Hull), MABE (UK), Dip. Adult Teaching, (Canterbury).
